The Origen Cultural Foundation (Nova Fundaziun Origen) is taking over the historic Hotel Pianta in Savognin. After several years of vacancy, Origen intends to revitalize the hotel through a diverse cultural program.

A pop-up opening is planned for this summer, focusing on the history of the region’s most prominent hotelier family while making the protected historic rooms and salons accessible to the public. On June 5, 2026, a media presentation was held at the hotel, where plans for future artistic projects and cultural events were unveiled.

As a cultural center, Origen will establish a cultural archive to preserve valuable regional documents. In addition to a Venetian-style café, a bookstore featuring local arts and crafts, and a cultural information point, the hotel will host a wide range of exhibitions, spatial installations, and events, transforming Hotel Pianta into a vibrant cultural gathering place. It was also emphasized that these plans will require extensive renovation work estimated at approximately CHF 6.5 million, funded through private donations, foundation contributions, and public support.

As one of Graubünden’s most significant cultural institutions, Origen combines contemporary architecture, sustainability, and the preservation of Romansh cultural heritage. Theater, dance, and music are all part of its year-round program, including the annual Origen Summer Festival, one of the region’s cultural highlights. It will be exciting to see which future stage productions will fill the spaces of Hotel Pianta and once again bring the performing arts to life amid the Alpine scenery of Savognin.
