The City of Bern has awarded the operation of the Dampfzentrale cultural center from 2028 onward to the Dampfzentrale Association, the organization that currently manages the venue, based on its “Plan D” concept.

The “Plan D” project was unanimously selected by a nine-member jury as part of a public tender process. It will serve as the basis for negotiations on a service agreement covering the period from 2028 to 2030. The concept brings together four areas of activity: dance and performance (“House of Dance”), music (“House of Decibel”), public debate (“House of Dialogue”), and the “House of Dezentrale.”

“Plan D stands out through its compelling vision and high artistic standards,” said Bern Mayor Marieke Kruit at a press conference. “It is a coherent and balanced concept that provides direction and clarity and is driven by strong motivation.” The jury particularly highlighted the concept’s commitment to strengthening local dance creation while maintaining a solid music program. It also praised the clear organizational structures, high level of professionalism, and strong commitment to collaboration and openness.
