The Tanzfest takes place from May 14 to 18, 2025 in 44 cities and towns throughout Switzerland. Trial classes are offered and flash mobs can be joined. And a number of dance performances by professional dancers on stage and in public spaces introduce the wider public to dance in all its facets.

The Tanzfest was launched in Zurich in 2006 and has since developed into a national event thanks to the national coordination and communication of Reso - Dance Network Switzerland. It is organized in cities and towns by organizing committees that are rooted in the local dance scene and implement the program according to local needs and possibilities. The Tanzfest allows the public to discover and be amazed by the stylistic diversity of dance.

This year, around 4,000 participants and 200 partner institutions are putting on a diverse program with 600 dance classes, 450 dance performances and 40 parties. Eleven professional Swiss dance companies will be touring with their productions as part of the “Dance on Tour” program, including four prizewinners of the Swiss Performing Arts Awards. In addition, a selection of current dance films will be shown in selected cinemas as part of the “Dance on Screen” program, allowing audiences to experience dance in yet another form.
